Clueless

A few of my favorite things? Oversized earrings, anything pink, and Washington Sq Park! (it's the best place to hang out in the warm months, and pet people's dogs year-round) Plus, with Fashion Week kicking off, there were tons of bloggers, both native and those who flew in for the week, taking shots all around this neighborhood!

10 Ways Living In New York Changes Your Style

In honor of NYFW kicking off today, I though it would be fun to share a few style quirks that make a native New Yorker stand out day-to-day. Obviously since it's Fashion Week, everyone from the thousands of celebrities, fashion bloggers, editors, etc that pour into the city, to the regular Manhattanite will be stepping up thier style, but when it's not Fashion Week, we're a little more practical and predictable when it comes to dressing.  Here are a few ways your style changes once you become a New Yorker:

Bordeaux

A surprisingly good spot for sipping your morning coffee? The New York Public Library on 5th Ave. Right next to Bryant Park, and overlooking one of the busiest streets in Manhattan, it's a great place to kick back and people watch, or go in and visit the beautiful library inside. Fun Fact: you can't actually check out books here, it's purely a research library, but they have locations all around NYC where you can!

City Hall

No, I didn't get married, although this spot is where tons of young lovers in the city come to get married and snap a few pictures in this gorgeous little park. The fact that it had just stopped raining a few hours prior to this made the pavement of the park glitter, and the early morning light made everything in the city seem fresh and hopeful.

I finally pulled this skirt out of the back of my closet. I made it about two years ago to wear on Christmas, and this is only its second time seeing the light of day (I need to pull it out more often!) I love pairing this dramatic and slightly formal skirt with a roughed up and casual denim button down. Adding a pair of glittering earrings just pulls everything together, and the block heeled ankle boot keeps it from getting too prissy.

Chartreuse

When given the thought, most people will immediately say "I look terrible in yellow!", but I think that's simply not true. Everyone has a shade, whether you're a true bright yellow, a warm mustard, or going the extreme route and trying something like this bright chartreuse.

I bought this LOFT sweater a while ago, but I'll admit, it took me a while to get used to the vivid color and be confident wearing it. Now, it's one of my favorites! Putting this embellished collar shirt underneath adds another pop of interest, but since this one has been long out of stock, you can get a similar look with a classic white button down and a statement necklace

The Butcher's Daughter

Eating vegetarian has never tasted so good. The Butchers Daughter has a way of making fruits, veggies the main course instead of side dishes, and their protein of choice, eggs, are to die for! They have two locations in NYC (Nolita and West Village) and one in LA. Like most chic NYC spots, menus vary from location to location, and Nolita has always been my favorite (for both the food and the area!)

Off The Shoulder

New Yorkers may be cold and calloused, but our wildlife sure is friendly, or... at least our squirrels are. While shooting down in City Hall Park this morning (a very underrated NYC park) a pack of squirrels came and said hello, and I made friends with one little bushy-tailed fella in particular!

For this bright city morning I pulled out one of my favorite new pieces, this off the shoulder number from J.Crew, proving that you can still do cold-shoulder looks in 40 degree weather. With it, I paired my trusty white bandana and a few sparkly bits that came in this month's Rocksbox (use code AudraKochXOXO for a free month!) And you can't go wrong with a dark wash denim and black heeled booties (I'm surprised that neither of these have fallen to pieces yet!)

Favorite Style Posts of 2016

Happy 2017 everyone! It's been a crazy year for all of us, and I for one am ready to start fresh! This past year, I've made it through two more semesters of college, lost three great roommates (who are still close friends), gained another great roommate, made more amazing new friends, got to show my oldest sister and my Grandmother around NYC, took a trip to Cancun with my family, got a job at my favorite store, and grew my blog more than I had hoped!

Today, I wanted to quickly look back at a few of my favorite Style posts from 2016, In no particular order, here are some of my best:

7 Best Coffee Shops in Manhattan

If there's one thing I love just as much as New York, it's coffee. Luckily, the city has some pretty amazing coffee spots all around that offer slightly different brews, atmospheres, and experiences. So whether you're a season New Yorker or just visiting the city, skip the Starbucks habit and hit up a local NYC coffee shop instead!

Glossier Black Tie Set

Glossier has pushed farther into the makeup realm and created a gorgeous set of essentials, called the Black Tie Set, to accent and enhance the natural glow that their skincare products have already created for so many cult-followers. Their skin-first makeup-second mantra has created a popular idea about makeup that they should aim to enhance, not hide.

Pajama Party

Best new trend that's happening right now? Pajama Shirts. They come a close second after neck scarves in my book, and they look just as chic dressed up with a skirt and heels, as they do with jeans and flats.

I aired on the more casual side with this one and wore my favorite lookout high-rise jeans with black block heeled boots, and then grabbed this Kate Spade bag to pop the red from the tipping of this shirt. Finally, a favorite new addition to my ever-growing collection of enormous earrings are these tortoise ones from J.Crew. Unfortunately, they're sold out, but there are tons of new styles that are to-die-for!
