12 NYC Tourist Traps To Avoid

There is so much to see in New York that planning can be overwhelming! Every neighborhood has it’s own unique charm, and there are so many iconic locations to check out. However, there are a few tourist destinations that in my opinion, can be done without or done better. From a local, here are 12 tourist trap locations to avoid, and what to do instead:

10 Places in NYC That Look Like Paris

Even while living in the most exciting and culturally rich city in America, I often find myself longing for the quiet elegance of Paris. Its my favorite place to visit, however when an 8 hour flight across the Atlantic isn’t possible, there are actually quite a few places in NYC that create a small slice of the City of Lights. Below are 10 of my favorite New York spots that look like Paris:

Grand Army Plaza, L’Appartment Sezane, New York Public Library, Bar Tabac, Caffe Dante, Conservatory Gardens, The Metropolitan Museum, Washington Square Park Arch, Upper East Side, Central PArk Amphitheater

Letters From London

London is a beautiful city filled with so much history! I loved getting to explore all the different neighborhoods of London, and even though the weather tends to be on the wet side (bring a hat and an umbrella!) it's still one of my favorite places I've visited! Read on for a few reccomendations during your trip!

Florence

I've had the amazing opportunity to travel Europe, and live in Florence for the past few months, and while I've been posting travel diaries about my experiences, I had a few people ask me if I would do more practical guides and tips for someone planning thier own trips to these cities! I'll be posting guides for each city over the next few months, but I thought the best one to kick it off was the one I know best, Florence!

London

'Ello! I spent this past weekend in London, UK and had the best time brunching, visiting spots from Harry Potter and Sherlock homes, and seeing all the usual sights (London Eye, Westminster, Kensington, etc) with friends! In classic London style, it was a bit misty-rainy most of the time, but that didn't stop us from exploring this gorgeous city!

Vienna & Budapest

We planned this 6-day East-European adventure pretty early in the semester, so by the time it arrived, I was so excited I could barely contain myself! We flew to Vienna, Austria on Friday afternoon and then took a bus over to Budapest, Hungary early Monday morning, and finally left the beautiful city on Wednesday. This is so far my favorite trip I've been on, and I'm dying to go back to both countries!

Rome

Ciao from Roma! A few friends and I decided to spend a weekend exploring the ancient city, and it was one of my favorite trips so far! It got off to a bit of a bumpy start though...I had been sick all week, so Saturday night I decided to take benedryl and head to bed early, hoping I'd feel better the next day for out train at 8 AM......and then I woke up dazed and confused, at 9. oops! Well I raced to the station, and hopped on the next train to meet my friends, and it all worked out in the end!

3 Day Guide to New York City

I get messages all the time from people visiting New York, asking where to visit and places to eat. And after five years of living here, I definitely have a list of places, but to make it easier, I’ve decided to write out a 3-day trip plan for visiting NYC. I won't cover every single thing you could possibly do (because you'd need an entire month to do everything) but some of the best highlights are in here, as well as a few off-the-tourist-path spots. These are just suggestions, If you really want to visit somewhere, do it! It's your trip! But here's my suggested plan:

Barcelona

Ciao! I've had an amazing weekend relaxing at home in Florence, and finally had time to sift through all my photos from Barcelona! We spent two full days exploring the Catalan capital, and eating the most amazing food!! (Seafood is my weakness, and Barcelona has endless amounts!)

Paris & Marseilles

Ciao! I've been so behind on blogging, but I finally have a weekend where I'm not traveling (and to be honest, it's been wonderful to just relax) but since I have a little extra time, I'll be recapping my trips to France & Spain! First up is my week in Paris and Marseilles (both of which I never wanted to leave!)

Verona

Ciao from fair Verona. My roommates and I spent the weekend exploring this romantic and beautiful little city, and I can say that none of us wanted to leave it! We visited Romeo and Juliet's house, castles, palaces, gardens, and hiked up to Il Belvedere! Check out a few photos I snapped from the weekend and a full Vlog down below!
