HILLARY CONHEADY AND AUDRA KOCH - HER STYLE ON SOUTHERN NEW YORKER

Her Style is a bi-weekly article on Southern New Yorker, showcasing one fashionable woman styling a current trend of her choice, accompanied by an interview with her on fashion, beauty, career, and more!

Hillary Conheady is a Charleston based fashion and travel blogger with a love for long dresses and hair accessories! Originally a Georgia native, Hillary attended University of Alabama before making the move to New York to work for Saks Fifth Avenue. We met and became fast friends while she was living in NYC, bonding over our love of brunch and designer fashion! After 2 years in New York, Hillary settled into Charleston and has been blogging in addition to managing social media accounts for local businesses!

We got to spend the day together and catch up during my recent trip to Charleston, and I'm so excited to introduce her to you today! Read on for her interview:

How would you describe your style?

This has always been such a hard question for me to answer! For as long as I can remember, my style has always been changing depending on my mood. Some days I am all dressed up and throwing on some brightly colored tights and other days I'm completely dressed down in leggings and an oversized t-shirt. Honestly, there is absolutely no in-between. However, I've definitely been labeling my style as feminine fashion lately. You'll rarely ever see me in anything other than a flowy dress!

How has your style changed over the years?

I think my style is always changing because I'm constantly trying new trends. Whether it's socks and heels or color blocking, I love being playful with my clothes and testing the waters on a new look. However, I have always been a fan of bold prints and colors! This has stayed consistent from the very beginning!

What's something you're passionate about right now?

I am currently passionate about Alabama football haha! It's fall (aka football season) so that's all I'm thinking about right about now!

What made you want to start blogging?

To be honest, I always said I was never going to start a blog. (My mom still teases me about that one!) Throughout college, I was uploading what some would call "artsy" pictures of scenery and flat lays. Those photos turned into outfit posts. I spent time in New York for an internship with BCBG's corporate office and thus posts were becoming more "high fashion" related. Once I officially moved to New York after graduation, I figured I had something to offer with my already growing Instagram account (I think I had about 2,000-3,000 followers at this point) and decided to start my attempt at a blog while killing time applying for jobs. I don't think I had ever even seen another blogger's website - I'm not exactly sure what I was thinking with version 1 of hillheady.com. But after I moved to Charleston, I realized that this could actually be something.

You're such a bubbly and outgoing person, has that always come naturally to you?

It really has always come naturally to me! I think that probably comes from being the baby in my family. Plus, I was always involved in extracurricular activities ranging from volleyball to dance. As cheesy as it sounds, being part of my sorority also helped me with networking. After recruiting thousands and thousands of girls, I realized I can just about talk to anyone.

If you could only wear one outfit for the rest of your life, what would it be?

When I first read this question, my immediate answer was leggings and a t-shirt no question. Then, naturally, I overthought this and thought about how I'd have to go to work in this and events and everything in between. So I've settled on this white dress from Zara. While it is rather boring in my opinion, it can be worn almost anywhere! Yes, I am going with the practical and boring answer! I could dress it up with fun colored shoes or dress it down with my favorite pair of sneakers. Can't go wrong here!
