In My Bag: Kate Spade Cedar Street Maise

I was ecstatic when I opened this Kate Spade Cedar Street Maise on Christmas morning this year, and ever since then, it has become the perfect bag for everyday and for taking to my internship! Today, I thought I would give a little peek inside and tell y'all what's hiding in this little red gem. Watch the video for a full, unedited version (complete with random papers, metrocards, and way too many lip products) or just keep scrolling for my edited version!

What's in my Makeup Bag

LORAC skinny palette in Black, Benefit Rollerlash mascara, Eyeko black magic mascara, STILA stay all day eyeliner, real techniques eye brushes, Tarte 24 hour amazonian clay blush in Captivating, Revlon 24 hour Colorstay Foundation, Anastasia Beverly Hills powder contour palette, Maybelline New York undereye concealer, real techniques makeup face brushes - Southern New Yorker - What's in my Makeup Bag

Due to limited space while packing for the holiday break, I had to pair down my makeup collection to just my favorites. Today I thought I would share which one's I picked and why!

Face Stuff:

What's In my Makeup Bag - Southern New Yorker - Tarte 24 hour amazonian clay blush in Captivating, Revlon 24 hour Colorstay Foundation, Anastasia Beverly Hills powder contour palette, Maybelline New York undereye concealer, real techniques makeup brushes

Revlon Colorstay Foundation

This gem was part of my Best Drugstore Foundation Review, and to be honest, it's one of the only foundations that is light enough for my skin tone (I swear, I'm somehow getting paler). Besides that, it has great coverage, a good consistency and it LASTS.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Captivating

This has been on my face daily for months. I just can't seem to find anything that measures up to it. The shade is beautiful on fair skin and the formula is long lasting and natural looking. These blushes are a cult item for a reason!

Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer

Another cult favorite. Every beauty blogger and their mother raves about this budget find.  It has great coverage for both redness and those monster zits (we all get them, let's all admit it). The sponge tip is a little odd at first, but I promise you'll love it once you start using it!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Palette

Okay, so this one was a Christmas Present, but it's still taking over my makeup bag as my favorite product right now. The highlight shades are beautiful, and the contours are so pretty and natural. Watch out for a review/tutorial in the near future!

What's in my Makeup Bag - Southern New Yorker - LORAC skinny palette in Black, Benefit Rollerlash mascara, Eyeko black magic mascara, STILA stay all day eyeliner, real techniques eye brushes

Benefit Rollerlash Mascara

I absolutely love this mascara! My lashes are perpetually sticking straight out, but this makes them hold a curl SO much longer. Most people either love it or hate it, but mine is a LOVE.

Eyeko Black Magic Mascara

This mascara is so good, Birchbox has a waiting list for it. (and I'm on it). seriously. I'm actually still trying to scrape the last bits from this sample size, but crossing my fingers that the list opens up soon and I can grab a full size!

STILA Stay All Day Eyeliner

At first, I wasn't a huge fan of this liner, I had heard it talked up by so many bloggers, and I was rather disappointed when it smudged right off from my lash curler. I revisited it a little while ago, and I found that if you A) Put it on over eyeshadow and B) Wait a few minutes before curling your lashes (I used to curl them RIGHT after) the liner will have time to set, and this stuff will stay dark and black all day long.

LORAC Skinny Palette in Black

I fell a little guilty putting this one, seeing as it was limited edition and is no longer available, but LORAC has so many similar palettes which are fabulous (I'm eyeing the Pro Mattes palette). LORAC shadows are buttery, pigmented, and long lasting. Some of the best I've ever used!

November Beauty Favorites

Clinique Color Pop Lipstick in Poppy Pop, Cola Pop, and Punch Pop, LORAC Skinny Palette in Black, Essie Polish in After School Boyfriend Blazer and Sugar Daddy, Maybelline Fit me powder, L'Oreal Voluminous False Fiber Lashes, L'Oreal True Match Foundation

This month brought a few new beauty finds, and a few re-discoveries! These are some of the products I've been reaching for every day!

1. L'Oreal Voluminous False Fiber Lashes

L'Oreal Voluminous False Fiber Lashes - November Beauty Favorites - Southern New Yorker

It's no secret that I've had a long-running love affair with L'Oreal's Million Lashes Mascara (One of the best drugstore mascaras, seriously.) but I've just discovered their False Fiber Lashes mascara, and I have to say, it's pretty dang amazing. For full, fluttery lashes, this golden beauty is a winner!!

2. Essie Polish - After School Boy Blazer and Sugar Daddy

You can never have too many Essie polishes. It's simply not possible. This month, I've been loving wearing this sheer pink shade, Sugar Daddy on my nails. It adds a sophisticated polish, but isn't too obvious when it chips (because who really has the time to keep up with a manicure?)

For the toes, I've been all about After School Boy Blazer. It's a dark, dark navy that almost appears black, and it looks too cute!

3. LORAC Skinny Palette in Black

This little gem has been picked up almost every day! I use the second shade all over the lid, fourth for a contour, and then use the darkest brown or black for a liner! It's a perfect travel palette, and has colors for both day and night! Unfortunately, this exact palette was a limited edition, but LORAC has the Matte Pro Palette which is very similar!!

4. Maybelline FIT me Powder

It's getting colder, which means dewy summer skin is no longer here and winter mattes are here to stay! I love Maybelline's FIT Me powder because it provides the perfect finish without looking chalky or cakey.

5. Clinique Color Pop Lipsticks

And for the 600th time, please let me tell you about Clinique's Color Pop Lipsticks! These hyper-pigmented suckers have gorgeous color, insane lasting-power, super hydration, and are my OBSESSION. I currently have Cola Pop (A rich brown-red), Poppy Pop (a bright orangey-red), and Punch Pop (a bold fuchsia). I adore them and plan on collecting every single shade!

6. L'Oreal True Match Foundation

I mentioned this foundation in my Drugstore Foundation Comparison and it definitely won out of all the types I tested. It has a nice, medium coverage, it's easy to apply and there's an enormous shade range in three different tones (cool, neutral, and warm) so you're guaranteed to find a perfect match!

August Favorites

L'Oreal La Palette Nude 1, Essie Gel top coat, Essie pearl polish in Imported Bubbly, LAQA cheek and lip balm, Maybelline New York under eye brightening concealer, and L'Oreal Lumi highlighter in Ice - Southern New Yorker - August Favorites

I'm always amazed every month when I realize how much time has past! I feel like I wrote my July Favorites yesterday!

August has been the month of illuminating skin, fun nails, and eye shadow palettes (I bought two in one month, that's a lot for me!)

1. L'Oreal Paris La Palette Nude 1

I picked this one up at the beginning of August and have loved it ever since!! There's a great mix of matte and shimmer shadows, as well as several different choices for highlight-midtone-contour. I would call this one a pretty good drugstore dupe for the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette (which is my holy grail).

2. Essie Gel Setter Top Coat

Best. Top. Coat. Ever. I've had a long standing addiction to Essie polishes but when It came to base/top coats, I was strictly a Sally Hansen girl. That was up until I grabbed this baby off the drugstore shelf (and never looked back!)

3. LAQA & Co. Cheeky Lip in Humble Brag

I have to admit, I was never a huge fan of cream or stick blushes until I got this little bit in my Birchbox! The color is gorgeous, it's very blendable as a blush, and SO pretty on the lips! Birchbox has a trio of these in a cute little clutch that I'm dying to pick up!

4. L'Oreal True Match Lumi Liquid Illuminator in Ice

After a bit of resistance, I decided to jump on the highlight bandwagon. (and boy, am I so glad I did!) I've mixed it with my foundation for a gorgeous glow, and patted it on the very top of my cheekbones for a little added radiance.

5. Essie Imported Bubbly

HELLO NEW FAVORITE. I saw this pearly pink polish on the shelf and fell in love. It's almost as subtle as a nude, but just that little bit more interesting! I've worn it for about three weeks straight! (sorry, not sorry)

6. Maybelline Dark Circle Concealer

I picked this one up because I had heard several other bloggers raving about it, and I have to say, it lived up to the hype! My only issue is that the lightest color offered is still a tiny bit too dark for me #palegirlprobs

July Empties

We are quickly nearing the end of July, wow it went by fast! I finished up a few good products this moth and thought it would do a quick mini review of each!

1. Macadamia Flawless 6-in-1 Cleansing Conditioner

I was a bit skeptical of this one at first, so I chose to test out the smaller-sized version before committing to a full size. It doesn't lather at all, but it's actually amazing! If you need to simplify your hair routine and clean out your hair from product-overload, grab one of these!

2. Neutrogena Skin-clearing Mineral Powder

I bought this along with the matching liquid foundation and concealer pen, and I loved all three! As far as drugstore face-makeup goes, Neutrogena has some of the best products! All three are made with salicylic acid, which fights breakouts throughout the day!

3. Maybelline Master Precise Liner

In the realm of eyeliner pens, this one is a strong contender! It doesn't stay all day, but longer than most drugstore options, and it has one of the thinnest tips, which makes it great for getting the perfect cat eye!

4. Benefit They're Real Mascara

I wrote about this mascara in my Rollerlash vs They're Real faceoff, and I'm writing about it again because it's still, in my opinion, one of the best mascaras on the market. It has incredible separation and lengthening power!

5. Aveeno Active Naturals Nourish + Moistuize Shampoo and Conditioner

Last but not least, I picked up these two because I'm a cult follower of Aveeno's Positively Radiant Moisturizer and I wanted to test out their other products! I can't say they were "life changing" but they were very good, and I could tell a definite difference in the overall quality of my hair. I would absolutely recommend these!
