August Favorites

August Favorites

Morning, Lovelies! I apologize for the lack of posting the past two weeks. I was on vacation in Cancun (mini travel vlog coming soon!) and moving back into college in Manhattan (dorm tour also coming soon!) and it was just too crazy to keep up my normal schedule. But now that I'm settled in, things can get back to normal! With that said, here's this month's favorites!

Beauty Haul

Morning, Lovelies! I've done quite a bit of shopping lately and I thought I would give y'all a haul post today on the beauty items that have found their way into my collection lately! I'll report back most likely in my August Favorites on which ones we're outstanding, and I'm excited to try the majority of these while on vacation this week in Cancun, Mexico (don't worry, there will be one vlog at least, maybe two!) Tell me below any of these that you've tried, and your thoughts! Or If you have any recommendations, I would love to hear them!

In My Bag: Kate Spade Cedar Street Maise

I was ecstatic when I opened this Kate Spade Cedar Street Maise on Christmas morning this year, and ever since then, it has become the perfect bag for everyday and for taking to my internship! Today, I thought I would give a little peek inside and tell y'all what's hiding in this little red gem. Watch the video for a full, unedited version (complete with random papers, metrocards, and way too many lip products) or just keep scrolling for my edited version!

January Favorites

Grace Coddington Memoir, Stella and Dot Eva Ear jacket, Benefit tinted lash primer, LUSH cosmetics cup o' coffee facial mask and scrub, anastasia beverly hills contour palette, kopari sheer coconut oil

It was so hard to narrow down just a few favorites for this month! Between all the amazing gifts I received for Christmas, and new products I've been trying out, it was a very difficult decision! So here's a bit of beauty, an amazing book, and just a touch of fashion that I've loved this month!

Benefit tinted lash primer, LUSH cosmetics cup o' coffee facial mask and scrub, kopari sheer coconut oil

We'll start off with the bulk of the beauty. I've been all about going back to natural products lately. The Kopari Sheer Coconut oil is amazing as a makeup remover, moisturizer, nail oil, and split-end saver. Next up is the LUSH Cosmetics Cup o' Coffee facial scrub and mask. This little powerhouse of caffeinated-goodness perks up your skin, (bye bye dark circles) and leaves your skin feeling incredibly soft! Finally, the Benefit Tinted Lash Primer has totally changed my lash game! I use that as a base coat under the L'Oreal Million Lashes mascara, or alone if it's a natural makeup day.

Grace Coddington Memoir, anastasia beverly hills contour palette

Two awesome things I got for Christmas made the final cut. My grandmother gave me a few books, and one of them was Grace Coddington's Memoir. I'm only about half way through it, but so far its full of funny and insightful stories about her childhood and early career. Such a good read. Next up, the Anastasia Contour Palette in light to medium. I was super skeptical of a contour palette because my skin is so fair, put this one is very easy to blend, and not too dark!

Stella and Dot eva ear jacket

Finally, we have these little gems, the Eva Ear Jacket from Stella and Dot! My sister gave them to me for Christmas, and I'm absolutely obsessed with them! The set comes with two pairs of studs and one jacket back, so you can wear the studs alone or either one with the jacket. Too cute!! Check them out in my Speckled Grey and Bright Poppy style posts.

What's in my Makeup Bag

LORAC skinny palette in Black, Benefit Rollerlash mascara, Eyeko black magic mascara, STILA stay all day eyeliner, real techniques eye brushes, Tarte 24 hour amazonian clay blush in Captivating, Revlon 24 hour Colorstay Foundation, Anastasia Beverly Hills powder contour palette, Maybelline New York undereye concealer, real techniques makeup face brushes - Southern New Yorker - What's in my Makeup Bag

Due to limited space while packing for the holiday break, I had to pair down my makeup collection to just my favorites. Today I thought I would share which one's I picked and why!

Face Stuff:

What's In my Makeup Bag - Southern New Yorker - Tarte 24 hour amazonian clay blush in Captivating, Revlon 24 hour Colorstay Foundation, Anastasia Beverly Hills powder contour palette, Maybelline New York undereye concealer, real techniques makeup brushes

Revlon Colorstay Foundation

This gem was part of my Best Drugstore Foundation Review, and to be honest, it's one of the only foundations that is light enough for my skin tone (I swear, I'm somehow getting paler). Besides that, it has great coverage, a good consistency and it LASTS.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Captivating

This has been on my face daily for months. I just can't seem to find anything that measures up to it. The shade is beautiful on fair skin and the formula is long lasting and natural looking. These blushes are a cult item for a reason!

Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer

Another cult favorite. Every beauty blogger and their mother raves about this budget find.  It has great coverage for both redness and those monster zits (we all get them, let's all admit it). The sponge tip is a little odd at first, but I promise you'll love it once you start using it!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Palette

Okay, so this one was a Christmas Present, but it's still taking over my makeup bag as my favorite product right now. The highlight shades are beautiful, and the contours are so pretty and natural. Watch out for a review/tutorial in the near future!

What's in my Makeup Bag - Southern New Yorker - LORAC skinny palette in Black, Benefit Rollerlash mascara, Eyeko black magic mascara, STILA stay all day eyeliner, real techniques eye brushes

Benefit Rollerlash Mascara

I absolutely love this mascara! My lashes are perpetually sticking straight out, but this makes them hold a curl SO much longer. Most people either love it or hate it, but mine is a LOVE.

Eyeko Black Magic Mascara

This mascara is so good, Birchbox has a waiting list for it. (and I'm on it). seriously. I'm actually still trying to scrape the last bits from this sample size, but crossing my fingers that the list opens up soon and I can grab a full size!

STILA Stay All Day Eyeliner

At first, I wasn't a huge fan of this liner, I had heard it talked up by so many bloggers, and I was rather disappointed when it smudged right off from my lash curler. I revisited it a little while ago, and I found that if you A) Put it on over eyeshadow and B) Wait a few minutes before curling your lashes (I used to curl them RIGHT after) the liner will have time to set, and this stuff will stay dark and black all day long.

LORAC Skinny Palette in Black

I fell a little guilty putting this one, seeing as it was limited edition and is no longer available, but LORAC has so many similar palettes which are fabulous (I'm eyeing the Pro Mattes palette). LORAC shadows are buttery, pigmented, and long lasting. Some of the best I've ever used!

July Empties

We are quickly nearing the end of July, wow it went by fast! I finished up a few good products this moth and thought it would do a quick mini review of each!

1. Macadamia Flawless 6-in-1 Cleansing Conditioner

I was a bit skeptical of this one at first, so I chose to test out the smaller-sized version before committing to a full size. It doesn't lather at all, but it's actually amazing! If you need to simplify your hair routine and clean out your hair from product-overload, grab one of these!

2. Neutrogena Skin-clearing Mineral Powder

I bought this along with the matching liquid foundation and concealer pen, and I loved all three! As far as drugstore face-makeup goes, Neutrogena has some of the best products! All three are made with salicylic acid, which fights breakouts throughout the day!

3. Maybelline Master Precise Liner

In the realm of eyeliner pens, this one is a strong contender! It doesn't stay all day, but longer than most drugstore options, and it has one of the thinnest tips, which makes it great for getting the perfect cat eye!

4. Benefit They're Real Mascara

I wrote about this mascara in my Rollerlash vs They're Real faceoff, and I'm writing about it again because it's still, in my opinion, one of the best mascaras on the market. It has incredible separation and lengthening power!

5. Aveeno Active Naturals Nourish + Moistuize Shampoo and Conditioner

Last but not least, I picked up these two because I'm a cult follower of Aveeno's Positively Radiant Moisturizer and I wanted to test out their other products! I can't say they were "life changing" but they were very good, and I could tell a definite difference in the overall quality of my hair. I would absolutely recommend these!

July Birchbox Unboxing

First off, the box itself this month is stunning, and the products overall are great! I thought I would do a little first impressions/mini reviews of each!

1. Benefit They're Real Push-Up Liner

I'm a huge fan of this liner, and already own a full size, but this tiny sample is perfect for keeping in my purse for a touch up! (not that I'd need it, this liner has got some serious staying power!)

2. Davines MINU ShampooConditioner, and Hair Serum

I've never heard of this brand or product before, but it's specially made for color-treated hair! Stay tuned for a review!

3. Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Liquid

One of my favorite BB Creams (which I'm sadly now too pale for) is made by Dr. Jart+, however, I have yet to test out their skincare! I'm excited to try this one!

4. LA FRESH Makeup Removing Wipes

The fact that these wipes are biodegradable is amazing! They're fantastic at removing stubborn makeup too! Only drawback is they're about double the cost of my trusty Simple makeup wipes.

5. stila Look at Me Liquid Lipstick

Major disappointment. I was so excited to see this in my box that I used it immediately. My first impression was that it had amazing pigmentation, but felt a little odd on my lips. After about an hour, my lips were completely dried out, the lipstick was cracked and looked awful. I would not recommend trying this one.

Don't forget to check out my GIVEAWAY!!
