The Skincare Edit

Good morning, Lovelies! Today I thought I would give a little skincare update since its been almost a year since my last one! Most products have changed, but a few tried-and-true favorites remain in my arsenal. A little glimpse into my skin type: I can be dry, normal, or oily depending on the day or time of year, but I always moisturize fairly heavily and use tons of sunscreen. (#PaleGirlProbz)

May Wishlist

May wishlist - Southern New Yorker - Tarte, J.Crew, Mark & Graham, sandlas, espadrilles, waterproof makeup, spring, summer, beach, blazers,

This next month is going to be insane! With finals, a wedding, moving home, starting my summer job, and settling back in, I'm excited to get going! Of course, I'll be hitting the beach (hopefully a lot) this summer, so sandals, a cute beach hat, and tote are a must! (Check out last months wishlist for swimsuits!) Plus, with J.Crew releasing so many gorgeous styles for Spring / Summer, I just have to grab a few! There goes my paycheck!

Sandals & Espadrilles

Time to paint those toes, (might I suggest Essie's Tarte Deco?) and strap on something pretty! These jeweled sandals from J.Crew Factory and Espadrilles from Nordstrom are perfect for your spring and summer wardrobe!

Anything Mark & Graham

I may have left the south, but my love of monogramming will never die. Mark & Graham has a huge assortment of bags, apparel, accessories, and more that you can custom monogram to your hearts content! This hunter green plaid tote and scarf are too cute! A little wintery, yes, but they have tons of summertime items just waiting for that perfect circle script!

Everything J.Crew

My love of J.Crew is absolutely no secret. Half of the time, I look like a walking advertisement for them. But this season, they've nailed the spring wardrobe. I mean, NAILED it. On my wish list: Teddie Pants in every color and pattern, an Uptown Tote, that gorgeous yellow off-the-shoulder top, and every shoe and accessory offered. (That may be overdoing it a little....or maybe not)

Tarte Summer Makeup

Tarte Lights camera splashes waterproof mascara
Tarte waterproof cheek stain

Tarte has long been known for amazing, natural, waterproof makeup, and the release of their Rainforest of the Sea collection could not have come at a better time! Everything is geared towards that easy, flawless summer look that will keep you fresh and dewy without melting off your face in the heat or water!

What's on your wishlist this month?

xoxo,

Audra

Tartelette 2 In Bloom Palette Review

Tartelette 2 In Bloom Palette Review

Is there anything better than a new eyeshadow palette? (probably, but it's definitely up there!) One thing I got for my birthday was this Tartelette 2 In Bloom Amazonian Clay Eyeshadow Palette, and I'm in love! It comes with 12 gorgeous shades that will work for any skin tone.

Just the overall palette itself is gorgeous. It's made of a sturdy-weight gold metal and has a huge mirror which is amazing for travel! The shadows themselves are rich, pigmented, and buttery! I haven't had too much fallout while applying, and all of the colors are beautiful!

January Favorites

Grace Coddington Memoir, Stella and Dot Eva Ear jacket, Benefit tinted lash primer, LUSH cosmetics cup o' coffee facial mask and scrub, anastasia beverly hills contour palette, kopari sheer coconut oil

It was so hard to narrow down just a few favorites for this month! Between all the amazing gifts I received for Christmas, and new products I've been trying out, it was a very difficult decision! So here's a bit of beauty, an amazing book, and just a touch of fashion that I've loved this month!

Benefit tinted lash primer, LUSH cosmetics cup o' coffee facial mask and scrub, kopari sheer coconut oil

We'll start off with the bulk of the beauty. I've been all about going back to natural products lately. The Kopari Sheer Coconut oil is amazing as a makeup remover, moisturizer, nail oil, and split-end saver. Next up is the LUSH Cosmetics Cup o' Coffee facial scrub and mask. This little powerhouse of caffeinated-goodness perks up your skin, (bye bye dark circles) and leaves your skin feeling incredibly soft! Finally, the Benefit Tinted Lash Primer has totally changed my lash game! I use that as a base coat under the L'Oreal Million Lashes mascara, or alone if it's a natural makeup day.

Grace Coddington Memoir, anastasia beverly hills contour palette

Two awesome things I got for Christmas made the final cut. My grandmother gave me a few books, and one of them was Grace Coddington's Memoir. I'm only about half way through it, but so far its full of funny and insightful stories about her childhood and early career. Such a good read. Next up, the Anastasia Contour Palette in light to medium. I was super skeptical of a contour palette because my skin is so fair, put this one is very easy to blend, and not too dark!

Stella and Dot eva ear jacket

Finally, we have these little gems, the Eva Ear Jacket from Stella and Dot! My sister gave them to me for Christmas, and I'm absolutely obsessed with them! The set comes with two pairs of studs and one jacket back, so you can wear the studs alone or either one with the jacket. Too cute!! Check them out in my Speckled Grey and Bright Poppy style posts.

What's in my Makeup Bag

LORAC skinny palette in Black, Benefit Rollerlash mascara, Eyeko black magic mascara, STILA stay all day eyeliner, real techniques eye brushes, Tarte 24 hour amazonian clay blush in Captivating, Revlon 24 hour Colorstay Foundation, Anastasia Beverly Hills powder contour palette, Maybelline New York undereye concealer, real techniques makeup face brushes - Southern New Yorker - What's in my Makeup Bag

Due to limited space while packing for the holiday break, I had to pair down my makeup collection to just my favorites. Today I thought I would share which one's I picked and why!

Face Stuff:

What's In my Makeup Bag - Southern New Yorker - Tarte 24 hour amazonian clay blush in Captivating, Revlon 24 hour Colorstay Foundation, Anastasia Beverly Hills powder contour palette, Maybelline New York undereye concealer, real techniques makeup brushes

Revlon Colorstay Foundation

This gem was part of my Best Drugstore Foundation Review, and to be honest, it's one of the only foundations that is light enough for my skin tone (I swear, I'm somehow getting paler). Besides that, it has great coverage, a good consistency and it LASTS.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Captivating

This has been on my face daily for months. I just can't seem to find anything that measures up to it. The shade is beautiful on fair skin and the formula is long lasting and natural looking. These blushes are a cult item for a reason!

Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer

Another cult favorite. Every beauty blogger and their mother raves about this budget find.  It has great coverage for both redness and those monster zits (we all get them, let's all admit it). The sponge tip is a little odd at first, but I promise you'll love it once you start using it!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Palette

Okay, so this one was a Christmas Present, but it's still taking over my makeup bag as my favorite product right now. The highlight shades are beautiful, and the contours are so pretty and natural. Watch out for a review/tutorial in the near future!

What's in my Makeup Bag - Southern New Yorker - LORAC skinny palette in Black, Benefit Rollerlash mascara, Eyeko black magic mascara, STILA stay all day eyeliner, real techniques eye brushes

Benefit Rollerlash Mascara

I absolutely love this mascara! My lashes are perpetually sticking straight out, but this makes them hold a curl SO much longer. Most people either love it or hate it, but mine is a LOVE.

Eyeko Black Magic Mascara

This mascara is so good, Birchbox has a waiting list for it. (and I'm on it). seriously. I'm actually still trying to scrape the last bits from this sample size, but crossing my fingers that the list opens up soon and I can grab a full size!

STILA Stay All Day Eyeliner

At first, I wasn't a huge fan of this liner, I had heard it talked up by so many bloggers, and I was rather disappointed when it smudged right off from my lash curler. I revisited it a little while ago, and I found that if you A) Put it on over eyeshadow and B) Wait a few minutes before curling your lashes (I used to curl them RIGHT after) the liner will have time to set, and this stuff will stay dark and black all day long.

LORAC Skinny Palette in Black

I fell a little guilty putting this one, seeing as it was limited edition and is no longer available, but LORAC has so many similar palettes which are fabulous (I'm eyeing the Pro Mattes palette). LORAC shadows are buttery, pigmented, and long lasting. Some of the best I've ever used!

Clinique Pop Lip Color + Primer

Clinique Pop Lip Color + Primer - Southern New Yorker

I can't believe it's taken me this long to give these lipsticks their own post. I picked up my first Clinique Pop Lipstick, Poppy Pop, back in July and fell in love with it. Since then I've collected three more gorgeous shades, and I'm eyeing quite a few more (aka all of them)

Clinique Pop Lip color + primer - Southern New Yorker

Generally with lip products, there is some sort of tradeoff. Matte products have amazing color and staying power, but they are usually very drying on the lips. Hydrating lip products nourish lips, but color payoff is usually not great, and staying power is even worse. But with these Clinique Pop lip colors, you can have your cake and eat it too! (literally, you can eat with these on and they will. not. budge.) They have outstanding color, insane staying power, and they feel amazingly rich and moisturizing on the lips!

The four shades that I've snagged so far have been Love Pop, a gorgeous mauvey-purple, Cola Pop, a striking dark brown-red (right), Punch Pop, a bright fuchsia (left), and Poppy Pop, a fun orangy-red (center).

Next up on my wishlist: Bare Pop, Fab Pop, and Passion Pop!
